| Tiivistelmä: | Being able to predict the success or failure of an alliance is particularly difficult, and reliable methods have yet to be developed. In the case of alliances, the notion of success is quite ambiguous: it is usually assessed on the basis of the performance of joint project or venture, but very rarely takes into account the impact collaboration may have had on the situation of the various partner firms. The papers data can help managers anticipate the likely evolutions of alliances in which they may be engaging but will not allow them to figure out whether an alliance is the best possible move. |
