| Tiivistelmä: | In what has probably been a combination of political wisdom and practical expediency, state representatives have created Offices of Consumer Advocates to overcome both their inability to deal with complicated regulatory issues on a regular basis and the inherent weaknesses of citizens' groups. Through a broad mandate of empowerment, OCAs exercise in a contemporary setting the historical role of ombudsman, not only representing the members of the body politic, but also ensuring that laws and regulations are equitably enforced. |
