Tiivistelmä:Traditional organizations with heavy internal competition, rigid functional silos and etc. ... exhibit sub-optimal performance by inhibiting critical knowledge flows (hereafter as: kn-fls). Cross-functional teaming (here as: c-f-tmg.) attempts to solve this problem by building organizational (here as: org-al.) connections across functional silos. However, merely bringing members of formerly isolated departments together produces only marginal increases in performance. The paper proposes a systematic approach for combining the principles of KM and c-f-tmg. in ways that purposefully enhance kn-fls. and result in significant improvements in org-al. performance as measured by cost, time and quality.
