| Tiivistelmä: | This paper defines organizational corruption as the emerging discrepancy between experience and normative expectation by drawing on Weber's theodicy problem. Four normative principles to respond to perceived corruption are presented: moral dilemma, detachment, systematic regulation, and normative controls. The 1996 Mount Everest climbing disaster is used as a case example to demonstrate how theodicy informs descriptive accounts of corruption and expose two limitations of normative models of ethics. |
