Tiivistelmä:A decade after robots have been introduced to the workplace in substantial numbers, knowledge regarding their impact on the human resource system is very limited. It is shown that robots do not belong to the labour age and are not labour-saving devices, but that they belong to a knowledge era and are brain-enhancing devices. As a consequence of this, if we want to use robots properly, we have to redesign the management system: from mass to customized production, from labour-intensive to knowledge-intensive action, and from hierarchical command to intracompany "market" of exchanges of free agents. Some organizational issues are considered and some of the implications for managerial roles in the modern factory are addressed.
