To make sure the desired efficiencies are gained from the remaining work force, layoffs must be conducted with advanced planning of remaining employees. Downsizing is a systematic reduction of a workforce by an employer, usually as a result of financial losses, cash flow difficulties, loss of government contracts, technological changes, or international competition. |
