| Tiivistelmä: | A new trend of change of the residents' income distribution appeared in China since the reform. The differences among the incomes of the residents in the urban and rural areas are widening: in the latter, the Gini coefficient rising from 0.212 in 1978 to 0.340 in 1995, i.e. rising about 60%. The changes of their differences have not taken place at the same rate: those in the countryside faster than in the cities and towns. Since 1984, the differences of income of the countryside's residents have basically been widening continuously and slowly, whereas those among the residents in cities and towns have leapt several times. |
