Tiivistelmä:Learning, like eating is a lifelong process. We need regular nourishment to both the stomach and the brain. We start to die (physically or intellectually) when we cease to do either. There are many parallels between the two activities. This may help us better to understand the way people learn and therefore to help them and ourselves. Perhaps the key similarity between the two activities is that both are essentially a personal and individual activity. Others can be present, they may assist and encourage but learners must decide to learn for themselves. The author answers the question, whether the metaphor can help us to better understand the way we learn.
