| Tiivistelmä: | This paper deals with the problem of minimizing the transmission cost in an EDI system and provides the optimality of a policy which minimizes the slack of partial sums under conditions with practical interpretations. This policy is shown to be useful as a heuristic in more general cases. In this paper the authors present a model to minimize transmission costs. The main assumption is that the cost of transmitting a group of messages is a staircase function of the total size. |
