| Tiivistelmä: | Approaches to decision making in international joint ventures (IJVs) are investigated from the perspectives of the transactions cost and resource-based theories of the firm in this paper. Particularly, the concept of autonomy in decision making is examined in a sample of UK-European equity joint ventures. A multi-method personal interview and self-administrated questionnaire are adopted to examine managerial perceptions of decision making and autonomy in the parent companies and the joint venture. The findings indicate that there are differences in the perception of autonomy between each of the parent companies, and between the parent companies and the IJV management. |
