Some of the lessons that can be learned from them even today are summarized. The early evolution of manufacturing management, the transition from the artisan mode of production to the ideas and concepts of scientific management is characterized. The most important themes in the management of technology in early 20th century American enterprise are described and analyzed. The experience of World War II with its challenges and systemic solutions is dealt with. The challenge of world-class competition in the post-war era is also demonstrated. |
