Tiivistelmä:Entrapment refers to a process by which organizational decision makers escalate theory commitment to an ineffective course of action in order to justify the allocation of previous resources. The results of two laboratory experiments are presented. They explored the effect on entrapment of individuals' perceptions that the ineffectiveness of prior resource allocations had negative implications for their self-identity. The findings suggest that analyses of the psychological process of commitment may provide a useful framework from which to explore the antecedents of entrapment.
