Tiivistelmä:The term "entrepreneurship" probably has as positive connotation as any modern management concept. However, management is a complex process, and entrepreneurial behaviour is not always good. In order to be really successful there must be a fit or a balance between the organizational structure of the firm and the type of entrepreneurial behaviour in which it engages. The key elements of this balance are outlined. Entrepreneurship is defined as a composite of risk taking, proactivity and innovation. Organic organizational structures are characterized and compared to the mechanistic ones. A model is described that relates these variables to each other. Four case examples are presented. Several implications for managers are specified.
