Tiivistelmä:The importance of both information technology (IT) and business process redesign is well known to industrial engineers, albeit as largely separate tools for use in specific, limited environments. The recursive relationship between IT and business process redesign is demonstrated. Business processes as a set of logically related tasks are defined. A brief history of process thinking is provided. Five steps of redesigning business processes with IT are described: 1. Develop business vision and process objectives; 2. Identify processes to be redesigned; 3. Understand and measure existing processes; 4. Identify IT levers; 5. Design and build a prototype of the process.
