Tiivistelmä:The virtue of persistence has made its way into common wisdom, perhaps best reflected in the age-old adage, 'If at first you don't succeed, try, try again'. Expectancy theory (Vroom, 1964) posits that workers will be more likely to persist at a given task if they believe that successful performance is contingent, rather than non-contingent, on their level of persistence. This study is generally grounded in this basic tenet of expectancy theory.
