Tiivistelmä:Velvet's 47 year-old profit sharing program is described. Owing to it the company's employees are among the best-paid in the industry. They have access to the financial records and production figures of the company any time they want. Union and department representatives meet daily with supervisors and management. There are also bimonthly meetings to discuss working conditions, suggestions, and other work-related issues. Several instances of conflicts and strikes in the past are reviewed, the lessons from them are summarized. The basic principles and procedures of participative management which are in use at Velvet are highlighted. These are forming a promising model for industrial labor relations.
