| Tiivistelmä: | Technology blending - constructive integration of newly emerging technologies in traditional economic activities - is defined in terms of retrofitting of existing stocks of physical capital with modern improvements made possible by frontier technologies. It is argued that two important aspects have so far been neglected in the recent literature on technology blending. First, not enough attention has been paid to pressures for participation in international trade which may be generated by technology blending. Secondly, the natural resource-augmenting capabilities of technology blending have been underestimated. |
