Tiivistelmä: | Interest in the relationship between computers and the workplace often rests on the assumption that technological innovation is a driving force in organizational change. The potential for work reorganization by telecommuting, defined as working from home on computer-based workstations is investigated. Certain jobs that once had to be done in a central office because of the large space needs associated with traditional information-processing technology and because of the necessity of proximity for communication, can now be decentralized. The developments in computer technology make telecommuting more feasible. |
