Tiivistelmä:Faced with a rising level of savage competition, companies, including fierce rivals, are sharing their resources to develop new products, achieve larger-scale economies, and gain access to new technology and new markets. But because alliances blur and reshape the very structure and boundaries of corporations, designing and managing them confronts managers with new challenges. One challenge is to recognize and respond to the fact that alliances force a redefinition of the strategic playing field. Alliances involve shared risks, which require mutual adjustments. R and D that goes into purchased goods contributes largely to a firm's technological progress. In alliances real dedication comes from those directly involved.
