Tiivistelmä:Income and employment developed favourably in the automobile industry, relative to the manufacturing sector, in major industrial countries. Yet, the empirical analysis of distributional conflicts within the automobile industry of Germany, Japan and the United States supports the prediction of simple trade models, according to which employment and income prospects of less qualified labor deteriorate in high income countries when low income countries emerge as competitive suppliers in relatively labor intensive segments of the industry (original in German).
