Tiivistelmä:The decision to share stock with executives in a privately held firm involves many complex issues. If stock is to be shared, it is necessary to periodically establish a value for the stock, to facilitate selling stock to executives or repurchasing their stock at a later time. Because no single valuation approach can satisfy all objectives, owners of privately held companies should identify which objectives are most important and use the approach that meets their objectives most closely. Advantages of using book value are summarized. Some alternatives and their advantages and disadvantages are also dealt with. Arguments are presented that outside appraisers provide objective insight. The future profits and assets are also considered.
