| Tiivistelmä: | The Saigon Floating Hotel, a six-storey warren of luxury moored at a prime downtown site on the Saigon River, has become a symbol of the sinking fortunes of foreing-financed hotels in Vietnam's southern metropolis. The Floater, as it is affectionately known, was towed into town in 1989 and quickly became the home-away-from-home for the fist intrepid investors to try their luck in Vietnam. In its heyday, the 180-room hotel enjoyed some truly memorable years , charging room rates of more than $200 per night, and boasting near-full occupancy. |
