Tiivistelmä:The NHS differs from a private business in not aiming at profits and being obliged to provide only the single product of health care. How radically does this affect the requirement to be "business-like" and adopt business values? The idea that the NHS should be business-like is a seductive one. Who would deny that the NHS ought to be well-managed in the sense of reducing waste and achieving greater efficiency? More contentious is the idea that the NHS should be preoccupied with commercial ends or profitability as ordinary understood in business.
