| Tiivistelmä: | The argument has been made that the traditional "Coasian firm," characterized by authority relations, complementary organizational elements and well-defined boundaries, will wither in the emerging knowledge economy. In order to critically discuss this claim, the present focuses on such key issues as authority, internal organization and the boundaries of the firm under "Austrian knowledge conditions", which are taken as an approximation of the knowledge economy. It is argued that it perfectly possible to explain the Coasian firm under these conditions. The paper provides a substantial list of references on this subject. |
