| Tiivistelmä: | The preferred models of overseas outward investment in cooperative ventures for 340 small and medium sized Korean firms in 1987 are analyzed. The analysis suggests that firms in the sample have strategic concerns that are different from those of the large multinational companies typically studied in such research. Current models of the international firm and of cooperative ventures are shown to have a strong situational component and limited application to a sample of firms which are not large multinationals. Five hypotheses are tested. The results tend to support the organizational learning perspective over the transaction cost perspective. This study raises some questions regarding the universality of current theoretical framework. |
