Tiivistelmä:The Italian market for soft drinks including nonalcoholic drinks based on water, sugar, and juices or other flavourings is examined. The main focus is on carbonated drinks, but cold teas and non-alcoholic aperitifs, peculiar to the Italian market, are also covered. Mineral water and fruit juices are excluded. Total sales were estimated to be worth around ITL 9000 billion in 1990 , 5 percent up on the previous year. In volume terms, growth has slowed down from around 10 percent in 1988 to less then 1 percent in 1990 to reach 2510 million litres. Colas and orange drinks are the best selling products (65 percent), the fastest growing segment is sport drinks.
