| Tiivistelmä: | The dominant view is that firms within Italian Industrial Districts (IDs) finance themselves primarily through internal sources and this view denies any potential role played by other sources of finance. This study concentrates on this issue by developing a database of company balance sheets for a sample of firms in two IDs. Findings show that IDs can also emerge within a context of state intervention. |
