| Tiivistelmä: | The purpose of the article is to evaluate the work of Howard Chase, a pioneer of issue management, within the history of public relations, his significance in the founding and development of issue management and his relevance for contemporary practice. The study revisits Chase's original concepts in their contemporary context and provides a fresh framework to assess his contribution against. The findings of this research suggest that Chase saw issue management as only one part of a broader restructuring of management design. It is also confirmed by the study that his work was innovative and of historical significance, but has been outdated by evolution of the discipline. |
