| Tiivistelmä: | This paper uses the Russian Longitudinal Monitoring Survey (RLMS) to analyze the dynamics of moonlighting (here as: m-l.) by the working-age population. It is found that m-l. is transitory and that a desire to switch jobs expressed in the past is positively related to m-l. in the present and to actual job changes in the future. It is also found that workers who moonlighted as self-employed (as: s-empld.) in the past represent 26.5 percent of the new s-empld ones. The results suggest that Russian m-l. can be seen as an effective s-empld. business incubator, thereby providing long-term benefits for the economy. |
