Tiivistelmä:In this paper, the authors have focused on what it feels like to be on the receiving end of different facets of career development, an aspect that the literature has consistently neglected. In an initial attempts to address this gap, the authors have referred to current organizational practice as experienced by 120 Master of Business Administration managers and drawn some tentative conclusions from their responses. The authors consider that three organizational stake holders could usefully contribute to a more strategic approach to human resource management. The findings suggest the need for senior managers to articulate clearly the kinds of skills and attitudes required by their workforce to meet the competitive demands of the future.
