| Tiivistelmä: | With more and more tasks to accomplish and fewer and fewer resources, managers need to streamline their organizations as much as possible. This article presents a systematic approach to making an organization run as tightly and efficiently as possible. It tackles the whole company: procedures and systems, people, physical configuration, product/process design, and relationships with suppliers. The authors call this 'complexity management', and it will be a topic in the coming years. P. Cummings contributes to this article a short note on the symptoms of complexity. |
