Tiivistelmä:Internet-Start-ups are embedded in a peculiar institutional structure that can be interpreted as a filter for a specific category of human capital. We show that the market success of a start-up ist not a necessary prerequisite for the function of this filter. Therefore, start-up-entrepreneurs that manage to get venture capital profit from better employment opportunities in other industries. This explains why so many talented candidates are attracted to e-commerce, despite the very low probability of entrepreneurial success.
