| Tiivistelmä: | This paper is a review of the book: Turizm edited by Gorsuch and Koenker. It is a new publication that provides a broad picture of tourism development in Russia and Eastern Europe. The structure of Turizm is basically chronological and it covers period from the early 1800s to the collapse of the Soviet Union. The first part of the book focuses on the development in pre-revolution Russia and the second part the era of Soviet Union. Most of the chapters focus on the growth of tourism and the impacts of political upheavals. The book is based on primary sources and the descriptions about developments are linked to broader trends in tourism history. |
