Tiivistelmä:Major changes are taking place in the number and nature of the work hours; in the structure of work; in the skills needed for companies to survive. They have been prompted by fast shifting birth rate, education and life span. According to an estimation 70 p.c. of all jobs in Europe in the year 2000 will require cerebral rather than manual skills. The supply of skills will be even more inadequate. The percentage of young in higher education will not grow significantly by 1992. The flexible working needs of women must also be addressed in future. The next generation of workers will start work later and finish sooner. Early retirement is increasingly common. Environment changes will include a move towards service industries.
