Tiivistelmä:There are growing opportunities for equity investors to obtain direct ownership of the natural resources and tools of production. This ownership comes without the double taxation and agency costs. There is also a growing trend toward employee ownership of business firms. In these trends those who provide the human capital take equity in their own contribution. Companies are polarized into two categories: human-capital-intensive operating firms and capital-intensive service organizations that require only caretaker management. The changes in large corporations should be interpreted not as the disappearance of public equity, but rather as the return to private enterprise.
