| Tiivistelmä: | Computer-integrated manufacturing (CIM) concepts call for extensive planning. Unfortunately, very little consideration has been given so far to its fundamental component and decisive base, namely to the structured data banks. Investments into CIM are examined from the users' point of view. The most important aspects of CIM-planning are discussed. The relationships among the components of a structured data bank are described and analyzed. As an example of structured data banks, the data model of an engineering data bank is presented. It is shown that without a sophisticated data bank it is impossible to write highly productive user programs. |
