| Tiivistelmä: | The resource-based view and the strategic group perspective are presented in this article in a way that is not very traditional. These two viewpoints are usually considered mutually exclusive, but the writers think that the resource based view complements the strategic group perspective with its rich viewpoints. The products of the company are regarded as the basis of the corporate decision making and as the backup for all market strategies. An analogy of a corporate genome is presented in the article. The analogy is then applied to an example of pharmaceutical industry in the UK and it describes the strategic activity of a company as well as the integration of the two perspectives mentioned before. |
