| Tiivistelmä: | The current trend of regulation, 'new regulation', consists of standards issued by transnational bodies. This article discusses the problems related to this trend. Foucauldian theorization of political rationalities is used in the analysis. The development of the role of standards is illustrated. According to the article, standardization constitutes a vital technology of government. |
