Tiivistelmä:Nowadays many public organizations are expected to implement methods and techniques traditionally used by private enterprises. This article is based on a longitudinal case study of a public refuse collection enterprise to examine whether exposure of competition has affected organizational identity (henceforth as: id-y.), legitimacy (here as: leg-y.) and rationality. It is found that (i) there has been a transformation from public id-y. to marked id-y., (ii) there is an increased use of logic of consequentiability, and (iii) cognitive and pragmatic leg-y. has got more important for the company.
