Tiivistelmä:Marketing strategies, policies and organizational characteristics of Japanese subsidiaries in the United Kingdom are compared with those of their local competitors. Data were obtained via personal interviews with senior marketing decision markers. The differences in the marketing approaches and the obstacles to local emulation of successful Japanese practices are analyzed. Difference was found in marketing orientations. The role of gaining market share and profitability in strategic decisions is outlined. Formal planning and control procedures are similar, but the Japanese tended to have better information processes. Organizational structures are compared.
