Tiivistelmä:Failures by diversification concepts and unfulfilled dreams in the case of acquisition and merger strategies are inducing numerous companies to concentrate increasingly on traditional business activities, and to seek chances of growth in these areas. In the majority of cases an exact analysis reveals important potentials, which have previously been ignored because of habits, carelessness and for reasons of cost. The elements of a market oriented action programme are listed and analyzed. The most important techniques helping to achieve a rapid improvement in the company's market standing are examined. The role of a more flexible orientation to customers' needs is emphasized.
