| Tiivistelmä: | This paper focuses on the differentation of production programs, i.e. all the products manufactured by a company. Three models referring to various levels of aggregation are developed and discussed. Based on the experience curve, the approach developed on the strategic planning level renders a business unit into product groups with only small data requirements needed. Maximizing net present value subject to a set of restrictions, the second model generates products with different sets of features. The final section of the paper deals with the cost minimizing reduction of a given set of product variants by increasing component commonality. |
