| Tiivistelmä: | It is the objective of computer integrated manufacturing (CIM), through the application of the appropriate information and communications technology, to achieve a uniform flow of information throughout the enterprise from the receipt of orders to the delivery of the finished product. The breaking-up of an enterprise into rigidly separated functional units is thus a clear contradiction of the integrative CIM approach. In the article the author outlines the basic principles of the object-oriented organizational approach within the framework of CIM, using the practical example of the production island. He describes the various aspects and stages in the realization of a production island. |
