| Tiivistelmä: | The market for telephones and other attachments reached 174.7m pounds in 1994, a 40% increase on 1990. The largest sector of the fixed line market was telephones, worth an estimated 90.5m pounds in 1994. The mobile phones sector was worth 123.4m pounds. Cordless phones now account for around 58% of telephones sold. Sales of telephone answering machines are performing well - answering machines and telephone answering machines were worth about 52m pounds in 1994. Sales of one-piece and basic two-piece phones fell, however. The fastest growing sector of the market in 1993/94 was undoubtedly mobile phones, with subscriber numbers increasing by 79%. The mobile phones sector is currently the most dynamic sector of the market, both in terms of sales growth, and technological/product development. |
