| Tiivistelmä: | The following plastic card types used in Belgium are considered: ATM cards/debit cards (used for withdrawals and deposits ATMs, and as a debit card in EFTPOS systems); Eurocheque cards (used to guarantee cheques and to withdraw money from ATMs); credit cards (used for credit purchases and cash advances from ATMs). Belgian plastic cardmarket is dominated by ATM and debit cards. The networks of EFTOP terminals and ATMs are now widespread and their expansion is beginning to slow. Data of various card types are shown in tables relating to ATM and EFTPOS terminals and cards covering only the bank networks, Bancomat and Mister Cash. Postomat cards issues by post office operate in ATMs only. 4.4 million ATM/EFTPOS cards were issued in 1988. |
