| Tiivistelmä: | The market amounted for 41% of sales value in 1998. Skincare products were the most dynamic sector, followed by colour cosmetics. The supply of cosmetics has become concentrated in the hands of large multinationals. Advertising expenditure on cosmetics rose by 59% over the review period, to £169.6mn, or 11% of market value. Retail sales of cosmetics are expected to reach £1,858mn by 2003, a rise of 21% on 1998 levels. |
