Tiivistelmä:In this study the authors aim to concentrate on the phenomenon of new firms that operate internationally right from the beginning or close to inception, so-called born global or international new venture (INV) firms. In addition the study aims to offer review of the literature about INV firms from the early 1990's up until today. The authors study the topic by conducting systematic review of top journals concentrated on entrepreneurship, marketing and management over the years 1994-2004. The paper presents and discusses results related to the founding of the firm, environmental factors, organizational features and their impact on market strategy and firm performance. The results show that there is a strong heterogeneity on factors investigated within the rather narrow defined group of firms. Therefore the authors conclude that normative linear models of international expansion are not very applicable to give explanatory and predictive value to the study of these firms.
