Tiivistelmä: | The author investigates corporate birth and failures in the US during 1951-1984. Profits affect these processes in a usual way. While changes in interest rates have no effect on births, they do affect failures. Unemployed workers start up firms than employed workers, but they fail more frequently. Finally, the new Bankruptcy Law in 1980 has increased the number of failing firms, especially those going into Chapter 11 reorganizations. |
