Tiivistelmä:While the construction of organizational commitment has received a great deal of attention in organizational psychology, most of this attention has been directed towards identifying the consequences of having committed employees. Few studies have examined how organizations facilitate commitment among members. Using a sample of 291 respondents from 45 companies, the results show that rigourous recruitment and selection procedures, and a strong, clear organizational value system are associated with higher levels of employee commitment based on internalization to higher levels of instrumental or compliance-based commitment. The findings of this study provide support for the hypotheses proposed.
