| Tiivistelmä: | An increasing number of companies realize that they cannot maintain their competitive position without the application of flexible fabrication technologies. However, the potential of CIM cannot be exploited completely by concentrating on technological matters only. The investigation shows how structures in the production area are changed by implementation of the CIM concept. The key role of production planning systems (PPS), the imporatnce of integration, the ch anging role of hierarchies, decentralization and the importance of s mall units are considered in this context. |
